This collection comprises more than 1300 Chinese comics. It offers high resolution page-by-page access to this dominant form of Chinese comic, which was popular between the 1910s and the late 1980s and often a hundred pages per volume. Individuals' roles - such as proof-readers, calligraphers and cover and concept designers have been cataloged, as well as writers, artists and editors, and these are accessible via both Chinese and Pinyin names. More than 2500 unique agents and almost 100 publishers are currently identified, together with edition sizes and distribution. The project was developed by the Center for Transcultural Studies at Heidelberg University, which continues research on the corpus.
